We would like to
thank everyone that came out to Fontana in the blazing sun to watch some
great drifting action. The level of skill exhibited in the drivers
on Sunday was amazing and many of the judges were impressed. When
the smoke cleared, the final three were announced and a special honor
was bestowed upon the winners -- each was invited to be an instructor at the next Drift Day. Everyone
had alot of fun and we hope to see you next time.
Making
History...
Drift Association used a radar gun for the first time in Drift
Competition history to accurately check entering speeds. This
turned out to make a big difference for the drivers and spectators.
It is the first time accurate measuring of entry speed was used in
a competition, which allowed judges to eliminate any speculation of
speed, and gave drivers a means by which to compare themselves.
DDC2 also featured 14 judges instead of the traditional 3 to make
judging fair and eliminate controversy. All the judges are active
competitors in national competitions which helped our local competitors
respect the results.
